Brooklyn Industries CEO: Positive on Smith Street

Lexy Funk via WNYC: "We have been there [Smith Street at the corner of Atlantic Avenue] for four years... It [Smith Street] reached its peak in gentrification probably a year and a half ago [early-2008]. We haven't seen a lot more stores open* [on/near Smith Street], but we have seen our store build particularly at the second half of the year."

(Smith Street discussion begins at 11:24)

*Relatively recent store openings on/near Smith Street: We The Free (renamed Free People) at 113 Smith Street (one block from the Brooklyn Industries store at 100 Smith Street), Smith+Butler at 225 Smith Street (seven blocks away), and Trader Joe's at the corner of Court Street and Atlantic Avenue (two blocks away).
